film evenings at The Studio - Friday nights

My studio Letsleepingdragons is housed within the 6 x 6 sq. metre walls of The Hearth of Cintsa Studio Gallery + Project Space in Chintsa East.  This is where I do most of my own art work, and I co-curate The Hearth as a 'gallery' and use the space as a classroom to teach drawing. The space is also host to a number of public events such as live music and, most popularly, our Festive Friday Film Evenings.

Visit the Film page on the website to view the film screenings for this coming season and join us if you can for some great art and other alternative, non-mainstream film!

awake. aware. alive

I wanted to see what a dark text on a build up of white paint background would look like, in answer to the previous large canvas (see next blog post).  This was a make up of elements I played with in answer to the question 'What do I truly desire?'.

new work: combination of 'The proper crossing of lines' and 'The slowing down of time' glyphs

This acrylic on canvas piece is a combination of the glyphs seen on the fish eagle and kudu paintings, built up in layers of reds, with matt and gloss blacks on top: lots of mind maths finished off with peace and harmony found in the final sigil.  Thank you Jean-Michel Basquiat for the permission.
